Default Open multiple Dreamweaver screens? possible? - 07-07-2004 , 03:47 PM

Ok, I just want to know is it possible to open more than one instance of
dreamweaver. The problem I have is I am working on two seperate websites at
the same time because one is an older version and one is the new one. I use
Dreamweaver's site manager to sift through the files, so the problem I have is
when I have one window open it only manages one site at a time so when I go to
open files they are the files for that one site. Also, it makes it hard to set
the code for both pages side by side for me to compare. I am able to hook up
two monitors to my computer and have a larger desktop, which is my intent and I
will have one intance of dreamweaver on each screen if it is possible.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Daniel

unless you get two computers I don't think it's posible to run dreamweaver two
times on one computer.
Dreamweaver takes up enough memorie running once, why don't you get a seperate
FTP uploader so you can sift through them that way?

ya, i definitely agree with you about the whole memory issue, but to answer
your:

way?

like I said, I would like to be able to compare the old code side by side with
the new code. It is a very complex and old site built on Perl, CF 4, ASP, and
a little old CSS thrown in. I am given the task of cleaning it up, organizing
it, and bring it up to date with current specs, so it would be much easier to
have 2 intances of dreamweaver on 2 seperate screens so that I can compare the
codes side by side.

I would use Explorer to copy the old site into a folder of the new site.
That way you can have comparable pages open simultaneousely and place the
code for them side-by-side. If you have used document relative links, all
your links should work too.
