Default Off topic Miva Merchant or YVS? - 07-20-2004 , 03:00 PM

I have to create a shopping cart for an existing site. YVS is certainly
cheaper, but Miva seems to have some interested bundled packages to create
nice look and feel aspects.

Anyone have an opinion?

I like YVS, but that's just me....

I have used Miva to very good effect, easily making the pages delivered from
their server, look like they were DW coded and delivered from my client's
site. We had zero problems with Miva.

I have never used YVS. I got the impression that YVS is not as full featured
as Miva, but that may have just been better Miva marketing.

Thanks Murray. I had them create an online ticket area for a site I created
some time ago, and had great success with them. But since it's me doing the
creating with their out of the box product I wanted some more feedback.
I see that Miva has a lot of modules to work with, but you can't beat the
YVS price

John,
Thanks! Do you have an example of a site you created in Miva? I'm trying to
configure the shopping cart inside an existing site that already has a look
and feel, so I don't want to lose too much...at first blush Miva looks like
it has more to offer, but YVS seems to be easier and less expensive? Maybe
I'm missing something.

The last company that I used Miva for, went out of business after the owners
had a personal disaster a year and a half ago (their house blew up when New
Year's Eve fireworks started a fire that set off a natural gas leak -
fortunately, nobody home). I have not had a chance to use Miva since then.

As I recall, all that I had to do was cut and paste stuff from DW generated
files, into their several forms and point it at the proper return pages. I
was able to not only use the client's logo, but rollover menus and footers.
There were a few very minor things that I would have changed. But then, as a
designer, there is something that I would change about every page on the
net, except those that I created and I even change some of those, from time
to time. I have to do that to keep from being perfect. 8^)

If you want a better price on YVStore, have a look at the ecommerce section
of my site for a bit of a discount
(disclaimer: aff link - so follow at your own risk

You can use YVStore as the back end only (as Murray has done with his
sample), a little bit more work than out of the box to integrate with your
own site, but it is doable. As for extra modules, not sure what Miva has
to offer, but YVStore has that much functionality already built in, you
won't get better for the price.
