It *is* a good piece.
But the author missed the hilarious habit of many Americans when they're
abroad, trying to say something to a local that doesn't speak anything
else but his mother tongue and the Americans start yelling as if that
would work better. I've seen and HEARD that hundreds of times, and it
just cracks me up. :-)

I think the Brits do that too, I saw some hilarious stuff in France, some
people are just THICK to say the least. I even heard people talking in
English with a French accent in the hope they could get themselves
understood. Then of course you get the Wally that pronounces words as they
are written and doesn't realise that pronunciation DOES COUNT and when he
can't get himself understood he thinks everyone is just lazy and rude
because no one can understand a word he is saying.

Reminds me of the Saturday Night live episode where someone was giving a
speech, and in the inset where you usually see the person doing sign
language was someone just shouting the words that were being said.
