Not Displaying Images and CSS when previewing

Hi I hope someone can help!!!

When previewing my website locally images and css stylesheets do not appear at
all when testing on my local server - I'm using Mac Tiger and have tried with
firefox,safari and IE. It has been working fine up untill recently and older
pages in the site update and preview fine.

Everything displays fine in dreamweaver itself just not when i preview it.
When I click preview with temporary file in preferences that displays it fine
and the files do get saved on the testing server!!

Anyone have any ideas??

How are you doing this - browsing directly to the file and opening it?

If so, then this is the expected behavior when you use Root Relative links,
e.g., those that begin with a slash - <img src="/whatever/whatever.gif",
since the browser has no idea where the root of your site is located.

Can you show me one of the links that is failing for you?
