Default Newbie help - pls - 11-23-2004 , 11:32 AM

Hi this is probably a very elementery question since I am a new user of the
program.

Is there any way that you can copy an entire layout table in the layout view?
Including the positioning of the cells in them and their contents like text and
pictures?

I would like to copy whole blocks of a webpage to use in a second one - and i
hate to copy each element piece by piece. Surly there must be smarter way to do
it?

Also is there some kind of max lenght of a web page ceated in DW? After
roughly 32500 pixels the program simply refuses create any more layout tables
for me. Witch is rather anoying.

thx in advance/ Anna

Hi

Get out of layout mode and never go back. Create in design view for the time
being and once you feel comfortable you can create in code view.

Cheers

Pablo

Hi Anna, this is very easy.
You see above the Properties panel you have all your tags which you can
press. Just press the <table> tag and it will automaticallly select the
whole tag, once selected just go to Edit > Copy and go to your other
document and paste it.

Cheers

I think you can just go to the Code mode and select the code for all that stuff
and paste it on the new page. I strongly recommend using templates instead,
they?re fairly easy to use. Check the documentation in DW or here in the page!

Yes, you can go into code view and do a copy and paste into a new document.
However, you would need to be familiar with the html code so that you don't
inadvertantly miss something.

Pauls' advice about getting out of layout mode is excellent. You (as in
general - not you personally don't learn anything by just trying to
'lay' out a design. In design / code view you can learn html coding as you
go by watching how the code is written when an element is added to the page.

Just my 2 cents
