Need some help with this database stuff

Okay, I've established a connection to my servers SQL database.
Now I'm basically a total noob when it comes to working with db's in
dreamweaver, so this is what I need to know how to do or be lead down the right
path to enlightenment:

A. I want to do some dynamic stuff with images. I want to put a image
placeholder and have it filled with images that are already stored in a folder
on my server, but randomly. How can I achieve this?
B. Is it relatively easy to make a simplistic message forum? No fancy features
or anything

Okay as you can see I'm playing around and getting my feet wet with all of
this DB stuff so any insight and help is appreciated.

Ok I'm gonna help but I dont know the full answer.......

A. You can achieve this easily with a 'Random image' extension however,
I'm not sure where to find one for MX. Try DW exchange.

B. There is a very useful tutorial in DWMX which shows you exactly
how to do this, and its very easy to follow( I've done it myself over the
last couple of weeks). You want to display a database and allow a user to
add to that database.

As a general guide, use all of the DWMX help tutorials. If you work through
them slowly they are very good.

There are several pre-built ones available for free. I'm familiar with the
Snitz Forum (written in ASP), but there are others in other server models.
