Default Need to delete unused data and pages in website - 07-26-2004 , 03:47 PM

I am moving a website from one web hosting company to another.

Is there a way to scan thru all graphics, documents, pages etc. that make up
the website and determine if any graphics, documents, pages etc. are not
being used anywhere in pages. In a sense check to see if anything, not only
page links, are unlinked.

Thanks,

Bob Leffew

From the menu bar at the top choose 'Site', then 'Check Links Sitewide'. Then
in the results panel, choose orphaned files from the dropdown menu. This shows
all graphics, pages, documents etc that are not linked to anything else in the
site and are most likely not being used.

Be careful though. If any files or images are linked using javascript or
Flash (like navigation menus) then Dreamweaver won't see the link and may
call them orphaned when they're not. So be careful before you delete them.
Actually, you should make an "old_files" folder and move them there. That
way if you find out you shouldn't have done it with some file you didn't
trash it completely.
