Default Neat orderly CSS files - what do you use? - 01-04-2009 , 09:44 AM

Hello all,

I used to use TopStyle primarily for one thing, the Code Sweeper, to make my
style sheets all nice and orderly. I don't have TS anymore, and wondered if
there's any other program with that functionality?

Thanks in advance,

What functionality are you seeking, exactly? CS4 will format your
stylesheet for you with COMMANDS | Apply source formatting.

Really, cool - I use Apply Source Formatting for HTML pages a lot. I hadn't
thought of that. I'll try it and see what it does. I like the way TopStyle
would group and alphabetize the style rules, as well as neatening them up.

De nada.

Although I don't think it alphabetizes <still puzzled why this would be a
good thing to do>.

I'm pretty sure it did - tag selectors rules in alpha order, class selector
rules in alpha order, ID selector rules in alpha order. The usefulness to me
is simply in finding style rules. I have a site which is some 8 years old
now, and it has collected quite a few style rules! :-)

May be you meant *declarations*, not "selectors". Because the latter could
mess up the cascade.

..note {font-style:italic;color:grey;}
..important {color:red;}

<p class="note important">What color is this text? (RED)</p>

versus

..important {color:red;}

<p class="note important">What color is this text? (GREY)</p>
