Are you sure you want it like this? You have one image within a link,
but then 2 links after it, but with no link text. Are you sure the rel
attribute is in the right place? Can it have the square brackets like
you have used? Why have you got a image preload script in the onload but
no preload script? Aren't you supposed to use onload to call lightbox?

Yes. This is a feature of Lightbox 2 to group images together into a
gallery. You can then use "next" and "prev" buttons to jump to the next
image.

IIRC the Lightbox scripts install their own 'load' event handler.
