Default MS Terminal Services 2003 - 10-28-2005 , 11:38 AM

Quick question.
Can DW MX or 8 be installed in a Windows 2003 terminal services enviroment?
If so, is it supported and what licensing would be required?
thx

It works fine, except the buttons that have '3D' effects (highlights,
smoothed edges, etc) really look bad across the RDC connection.

As for licensing, I don't know what would be required. I'm the only
developer here and only use RDC to work from home sometimes. That question
is best asked of Macromedia directly.

From what I understand about terminal servers (we have one running here), the
licensing is handled by the server itself. I can be licenced per machine or
per user.

With per machine, a license is used for every machine you use, even with the
same login. Therefore if you log into 5 different machines you have used 5
licences.

WIth per user you can logon to 50 machines and stil take up only one license.

Our server holds each license for 6 months before releasing it for use by
another user/computer.

I would think with volume licensing you would be okay. Other than that you
may want to figure out how many people will use it on how many different
machines and figure out which is best for your situation. You may want to look
on microsoft's site for more info on how the licensing is handled by the server.

On a personal note. The machine I have dreamweaver installed on is also
remote enabled. So I can basically access it from where every I want and work
on that one machine remotely. Though I don't know how legal that is...

interesting.
Maybe I should fire this one off to Macromedia support as well because I know if I say yes it can be, I will be asked about the specifics for licensing DW on TS

I could be wrong, but Macromedia has spent a great deal of time and
effort making Dreamweaver and all their other programs work in a
multi-user environment (many users on one machine). I believe the
license is a "per machine" license, and multiple users can use the
program. I use it on a terminal server so that I can access it from any
of my machines, although I am just one user.
