movie crashing IE

I've created a link to a 5.4mB mpeg movie file on my site. When I click on
the link it opens a new window and autoplays the mpeg file. Part-way through
the movie it crashes IE. I think this seems to happen when the playing
begins to overtake what has downloaded - If I stop it playing and only start
it again once the whole thing has downloaded there is no problem.

Is there any way in dreamweaver that I can stop the autoplay or is this
information that is contained in the mpeg file?

Alternately would there be a different reason why this is happenning.
