Default Molasses - 12-24-2003 , 09:22 PM

Suddenly one particular webpage of mine is as slow as molasses in January. When I looked at the code it has a huge amount of repetitive stuff on every page and I don't know how it got there. Each page has over 5,000 lines of code, and some of the pages are actually quite short and simple with few images and nothing complicated so I don't know where it all came from. A lot of the code refers to javascript behavior like show/hide layers which are not really there.

So - I made a copy of one of the pages and found that if I delete about 5,000 lines of code it does not seem to affect the way the page looks or acts, but I'm afraid to delete on the "real" pages because I really don't understand the function of all of the code (that's why I use DW) and I'm afraid I'll get rid of something important.

1) Please take a look. I tried to attach code but did not do it right, so I'll just have to refer you to a URL (below) for a very short page. Take a look at all that code.
2) Let me know if I can safely delete a huge block of code (something like lines 100 to 5,100 maybe).
3) Any idea how this happened?

Thanks for the help. (Using DW4)

I've sorted them out for the most part- but don't want to be held liable for
a comma or semi-colon here or there-

In addition to the code issue, the 15 .png's used are 199k! You total
page, including all images, external .js and .css files, should be
less than 50k. If you convert the .png's to .gif's, their size goes
from 199k to about 11k.
