Default missing images and text wrap - 07-11-2004 , 11:37 PM

I am (still) having a hard time with text wrap. When I add padding to the
CSS, it pads between the pic and the border, leaving a white space; when I
add margin to my CSS it moves the pic over in addition to the text. The
image needs to stay put and the text needs to start about 10px to the right
and wrap (about 10px at bottom as well).

that is: http://www.fonicdesign.com/reedy/index.htm

Also, i cannot figure out for the life of me why the images do not show on
the band page http://www.fonicdesign.com/reedy/band.htm; the only difference
between that and the other images with borders is that the images on the
band page are not class="imgleft"; i tried it with that but the same--no
pics. the images are on the server and they have a file size. the path is
correct. ?????

help? and thanks!

Adding the following to your imgleft rule:
margin: 0px 20px 0px 0px;

works for me... change the 20px to suit.

The images show fine here. I'm going to be it's an ad-blocker problem, since
the pics are 125x125. As a test, make one a different size and see if it
shows up.

Thanks, guys! I added the margin right and it worked like a charm (Nadia, I
must have been doing something wrong) and removed my ad blocker from Norton
and voila! Thanks again!

Glad I could help. You might want to change the size of the photos just a
little to try to make sure other people's ad blockers don't do the same
thing.

Hey no problems Libbi, glad you made it to the forum as well.

If that didn't work, my suggestion was going to be the add blocker thingy,
but MD got in with that one and it worked for you - good luck with the
completion of your website - nice job btw..

Just a thought. If it doesn't work with Norton's ad blocker, then there is a
good probability that you shouldn't be coding the page that way, since a lot
of people use ad blockers. As a rule of thumb, unless you know your
audience, such as an intranet that you control, you should always code as
though the visitors have ad blockers turned on and JavaScript and popups
turned off. If you use JS, make sure that you have a way around it or that
it is only a bit of fluff to the site and won't make any difference to the
visitor, if it is not seen (i.e. roll-overs). I have not seen the latest
numbers, but ad blockers are getting much more prevalent.

FWIW, if you are using an ad from another site, it might be a good idea to
consider having the image stored on your server and the link be a local
redirect to the advertiser's site, to get around the ad blockers.
