Default Menus No-Show on Mac - 08-27-2004 , 05:13 PM

I searched the forums for help on this one, but everything else mentions menus
looking funky - but mine don't show up at all.

I used Dreamweaver MX to create my fly-out menus on www.weplanreunions.com.
They're layers with timeline behaviors set for onMouse action, etc. Everything
works great on PC - but the menus do not even appear on a Mac. Is there an
article somewhere addressing this?

Again, I have found the article on distorted layers, and that's not the
problem I'm having (darn it!).

Thanks for your help!

While functional, the method is antique.

Quote:
function MM_initTimelines() { //v4.0
There are much nicer and easier and slimmer ways to do such menus.

http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/navigation/snapmenus/index.htm

or

http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/navigation/auto_hide/index.htm

and here's an example you can analyze -

http://www.projectseven.com/tutorials/autolayers/

Also, for what it's worth, you have quite a few broken links on the preload
behavior -

'file:///C|/Sites/images/buttons/About2.gif'

Just remake that preload and that should fix them (or you can manually edit
the paths on each image).

The code for all of your 'layers' is within a table. That's a violation of
the layer laws and will typically cause trouble with Macs -

http://www.thepattysite.com/layer_laws.cfm

The solution would be to move each of those layers out of the table and
locate them immediately above the </body> tag.

I have to agree with Murray on this one that there are easier ways to make this
type of menu.

On another note, how did you test this on a Mac (ie: Is it using OS X? What
browser (version?))? I tried using Safari (v1.2.3), Firefox .93, and Camino .8
and all of them showed the website menu working fine.

That timeline code will *NOT* work on the Mac in Safari, I believe (or is it
IE5?)....
