MAC FTP problem-"internal data error"

I did a search and did not see a solution to this.
I am having the hardest time FTP-ing to a particular server. I can connect
fine, but certain operations are odd (like I can't delete specific folders on
the server) and setting up a database connection for dynamic sites is giving me
an "internal data error" every time. I can connect fine to other hosts.
Anybody know what's going on? I am on Mac OSX.3.9 using DW MX04.

Hey i was having the same problem today. I was also getting a pop up that said
something about the syncronization, so i searched that because there were no
answers on the Internal data error. Anyways somebody said to go to your remote
site info and check use passive FTP. As soon as i did this everything worked,
so far so good. Hope this helps.

In my case this isn't a Mac/PC thing. It happens on one particular server on
both platforms. I can use regular ftp -- either one of those cute thingys on
the PC or Fetch on the Mac, and all is well. But with DW MX2004 I can only get
into our 2005 archives to make changes/download files. Anything prior to that
is locked with these messages coming up.

I am having the same problem. My Mac just stopped FTP to my sites.

I had this problem and couldn't get any help from the webmaster at my
university. I finally tried going to "manage sites" and switched to the "secure
ftp" option. For whatever reason this worked and I'd be interested in knowing
if this helps anyone else with this problem, too.

Just 30 minutes ago, I started getting this message from Dreamweaver MX 2004 -
"dreamweaver encountered an internal data error" - when I tried to FTP some
pages to a site I'm working on. I had just been uploading to the same site only
an hour earlier.

I have many sites I work on, so I switched sites and on some I can connect
without any problem, but on others, I get an internal data error and can't FTP.

I'm pretty sure it's something specific to the sites, because the ones I can't
connect to in DW are the same as I can't connect to with NetFinder (a Mac OS X
FTP client). That is to say, I can't connect via any FTP client.

"Dreamweaver encountered an internal data error:" This is a problem that fixes
itself!

Now, an hour after it cropped up, the problem has gone away.

I will presume, then, that it is indeed an intermittent problem with the
particular server. Wait a while, and it'll probably start working again with no
action on your part, as it has just begun working for me.
