Lock Flash movie position within web page

Is it possible to lock a flash file into a position within a web page?

I have tried using frames and put the movie into the left hand frame but then the links that are set-up in the movie don't work!

The movie is simply a signpost that acts as a navigation system for the website (in case you wondered) which is why I need it to stay onscreen!

The relevant page is then displayed on the right hand frame & if I can do it without frames even better!

help please...

If you don't want to use frames look into falsh variables in the <object> tag
