Default Local Vs Remote - 02-14-2005 , 07:00 PM

I want to setup my development area on my local machine (IIS). The remote site
is where I want to deploy 'production' which is the hosting service. I have
it set up this way, but when I do a Put it is only updating the site on the
local side, not the remote site. What do I need to do? Barry

Not possible. But on the off chance that it is 8), please tell me how you
have defined your local site, your testing server, and your remote site.

Murray , thanks for the reply. OK on my XP Professional local machine: (1) I
have a site defined in IIS and it is the LOCAL Site. (2) The Remote Site is my
hosting service in which I have set up a site and DW recognises in the site
manager. (3) Testing Server is the same as (1). I want to be able to develop
/ test on my Local Machine and then deploy to my hosting service (actual
internet site). This seems to me as a pretty common configuration for web site
development. Thanks for your help! Barry

That is quite common, and it's the configuration I always use for my sites.
Given that configuration, PUT will always send the files to the remote
location. Since the testing server is the same root folder as the local
site, it would not be possible for a PUT to send things to that location.

Edit doesn't work anyhow. Just don't use it. We (over on the NNTP side of
things) will never see the edits.
