there are several pages in the F1 help "Using Dreamweaver" that cover this.
Select something, a word or image. Then use the Property Inspector to make
the link.
tip- if you are linking to something WITHIN your site, use the "browse to
file" icon on the property inspector, and set the pulldown in it to
"Relative to Document"
If you are linking to an EXTERNAL site (like google.ca) then you must type
the full url address, including the http:// part into the Link field.
http://www.google.ca
if you don't type the http:// part, dreamweaver will think you are trying to
link to something within your website.
