link colours

Hi
I'd appreciate some help with this one. I'm using dreamweaver mx and have
come across something by luck rather than judgement but don't know how. What
I'm trying to do is replicate it.
Basically I'm trying to change the colours of link text on my web page so
that I can have several different colours in the same cell or table. There
is one particular link that I can change to whatever colour I choose, from
properties/text colour. I can even change the colour individual letters of
this word and it works in my browser. However other link colours on the page
are determined by page properties or css styles. I can cut and paste this
link to any position on my page and it retains it's editable qualities. I've
also looked at the code for this link but there are no clues there either.
Maybe this is something ridiculously simple that I just haven't covered in
my learning of dreamweaver.
