Default Lines to divide up page - 10-06-2005 , 04:08 PM

Hi,
You know when you are making a page and you want to be able to divide up the
page with those dotted type lines so you can have pictues and text adjacent to
each other? (but you dont see them in internet explorer).

What are those lines called and how can you insert them into the dreamweaver
editing page?

thanks for any help

regards

Mike

It sounds like you're talking about tables - Insert > Table.

Me thinks he is talking about borders... dotted or otherwise as a divider
.....

an example here:

Look at the border property.
Using css you can apply a border to a cell

I thought of that too - but would those type of lines allow you to "divide
up the page.. so you can have pictues and text adjacent to each other?"

the 2 columns....

Maybe - still sounds more like he's looking for tables to me - but who
knows, since he never came back for an answer!

thanks everyone for responding to my question.
It was indeed tables.

I only started using dreamweaver yesterday, and was in a very confused state
at the time I posted the question. I had opened a site I found on the web in
dreamweaver to try and figure out how the hell they arrangeed the content as it
was similar to what I want to do. I knew of tables, but this line didnt
seem to be part of a table, it was a line going right down the page and I
couldnt move it with the mouse. Having been working on dreamweaver for about
12 hours now., and learning a lot, I think that this line was part of a table,
but still not sure why I wasnt able to move it, but no matter, I seem to be
doing what I want to do without too many problems.

thanks again for helping.

cheers

Mike
