Default Layers - got a problem - 11-06-2004 , 02:09 PM

my website is almost a year running now.
I used layers, and find it verry usefull.
But now i've got a problem.
i've placed the layers to overlap, (i like it that way), but now, (i dont
know why, or when) the marker "Modify > Arrange > Prevent Layer Overlaps" is
on. And i cant turn it off !!!!!
Also in the 'tab-page' "Advanced Layout" every layer in each webpage is
'on'; when i click it off, click on the webpage, and whoeps, it comes back
!!!
I go crazy about it !
Can somebody help me?

cy,
Johan.

In mx2004 you just click on the layers palette and there is a button you can
click [prevent overlaps]. It's at the top of the palette. If you dont have that
look in the preferences or go to help in dreamweaver and type in layer overlap
and see what it says.

Thank u for your comment.
I've got indead MX, and i know the palette in the right bottem.
But that is always "on" and i want it "off".
No matter what i do, i cant seem to turn the 'prevent overlaps' off.
Also in the top off the screen i've found the marker "Modify > Arrange >
Prevent Layer Overlaps", and it's also "on".
I read the help, but the only say how to set it on, but they dont say
anything about my problem.
It's really strange! I hope it's no bug, i cant solve this....

Sorry for the late reply, i live in Belgium, it's sunday morning form me
now...

Greatings, and thanks again for the respons.

You know about the potential problems you will encounter with this approach,
right?

You are in Layout mode. You should leave layout mode (VIEW | Table Mode >
Standard Mode, and never go back. Layout mode will put lots of surprises in
your code.

Wait till you discover how fragile your Layout mode tables are, and how
ineffective your layers are when text on your page is resized. But that can
come later....
