Default Layering Objects/Images - 08-04-2004 , 02:47 AM

I have not found a way to successfully layer an image on top of another. A
background plate was created in photoshop, and now I want to add a logo and
other images on top. How can this happen and is there an easy way to move
images around freely?

Why not just put the main background image in a layer of its own and the
logo and other images in layers of their own? You can then move the
layers around until you have them positioned where you want them.

I feel this is far too simple so it cant be the answer, can it?

No reason really. I probably wouldnt, but you could. There is usually
more ways to skin a cat than one

I didnt really give the answer much though because it sounds like the
poster is trying to achieve waht would be better done as print design.

I see now another thread by the same poster asking the same question in
which text is mention. Its ok if the text doesnt exceed the height of
the background but with variuos browser setting for me its just not the
right approach. Gee I construction all the time by so call pro website
comapnies. How they get the work and get paid for it is beyond me.

There are two issues with this I found. The layer box doesn't seem to have a tranparency option. The second, when I view my page in html format the objects are not where I put them.

The layer box? Layers are transparent by default.

If you are seeing your objects misplaced, then you are misusing the layers.
The only way anyone could help with that would be to see your code.

Thanks for your help. I did find something out. When I use page properties
and slect an image for the background, that is where I am unable to lock the
layers I put on top of it when viewing my html. However, putting the images in
their own layers does work. The thing I am still questioning is how I can
select a transparent background for a layer. When I insert a layer it comes up
with a default of white. Under the color pallet I don't see an option for no
background color or transparency. If you know one, please help. Thanks.

Layers are transparent by default. They will reveal whatever is underneath
unless you change to a background color.

Please tell me what this means. I really have no idea what you are saying -
