Default Layer in the way - 11-08-2005 , 03:40 PM

In DW MX 2004, is there any way to make a layer element 'go to the
background' while you're editing your page? I have one containing some
graphics that's in my face when I'm trying to work, and it would be nice if
it'd simply go behind the scenes so I could see what I'm doing.

I don't see any option to 'hide' it while I'm working. Anybody know how to
hide them?...

Select the layer and use the visibility field in the Property inspector? Or
apply a design time stylesheet that hides it?

The Property Inspector setting doesn't have any effect on it in design view;
setting it to invisible makes that layer NOT show up when you view the page,
which isn't what I need.

Maybe "design time stylesheet that hides it" is. I've never heard of them,
but am hitting the books on it now, thanks Murray!

Well, what I mean is, when I set it to "invisible", it was still visible.
Which wasn't the look I was goin' for, LOL!

No. It's not. You would need to set it to hidden, and then click on some
other element on the page. It will go away when you do that.

Hmmm...yes it does go away. But then when I preview the page, it isn't
there, either. I assume you would have to "undo" this each time you worked
on a page? I guess that would work, but involve extra steps to make sure
you didn't forget and upload a page with half the stuff missing.

Nevertheless, this is a good workaround. Thks, Murray.

That's correct. The alternative would be to just work in the dreaded code
view.... 8)
