Default Layer Help: Centering text - 08-10-2003 , 12:01 PM

I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I'm fiddling around with layers for the first time and I'm trying to have some text grow and then disappear but the problem I'm finding it the text is't centering and every time I try under properties the animation no longer works.

Are there any tips as to aligning (specifically centering) text out there?

The animation is of simple text (typed in horizontally). I currently don't have a URL for it, just local.

Again:
1) "center" vertically or horizontally?
2) What *type* of animation is it? A gif, javascript, flash, quicktime?
What?
3) If not having a URL, post the code to the page
