Default just code on ASP JS dynamic page - 08-17-2004 , 08:50 AM

I am a newbie at databases. I am trying to build dynamic pages using DW MX
2004 and I have to use a Filemaker Pro database from a client (a database
that has not been tested by Macromedia apparently). I have activated the
necessary Remote Data Access plug-in and shared the databse file, have FM
Pro up and running, I have made the connection through Custom Connection
String since I could not get the DSN working. The asp page contains a table
with 7 dynamic text fields and a repeat region on that row of fields, I
defined a testing server on localhost, uploaded the file and database but
the page only shows the code instead of the lay-out and data...?
What am I doing wrong? Anyone?
appreciate your help
willemijn

I have a couple of thoughts on this. First thought is the file doesn't have
an ASP extension (.asp vs .html). My second thought is that your web server
isn't capable of running ASP. What kind of web server are you hosting on?

Best regards,
Chris

hello Chris,
thanks for your reply. I checked and the page is an Active Server Page, so
no .html. And the local testing server: Apache 1.3.29 Win32...
many greetings

This might be the problem then. Generally, Apache won't process ASP pages
without expensive add-ons. This will need to run on IIS, the native Windows
web server. Which operating system are you using (Windows 98, Windows 2000
Pro, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro, etc.)?

Best regards,
Chris

To which directory are you uploading the ASP files? I presume, as well,
that you're trying to access this through the browser. You can't execute an
ASP file through the file browser (i.e. Windows Explorer).

Also, if you've got Apache running, and it's on TCP port 80, then you'll
need to either shut it off and enable IIS, or change the port IIS is running
on so they'll run simultaneously.

Best regards,
Chris
