Javascript Navigator shows in Browser but not in DWDesign View

I am trying to install a javascript navigator on a web page. When I do this
and view it in the design window, I get a message that says "Your browser does
not support script". When I try to preview this with the IE browser, the
navigation bar shows up. I am new at this so what am I missing? It shows up
in the browser but not in the DW design page.

DW's design view does not interpret/execute javascript.
