invisible elements error message

Hello. I have searched this and it is coming up empty. I had no problems the
first 2 weeks of inserting images. Now when I try to insert>image it gives me
this error message:
"You won't see this element unless View>Visual Aids>Invisible Elements is
checked and the preference setting for this element is on."
Ok...I went and checked view>visual aids>invisible elements. It is
checkmarked. I looked inside Edit>Preferences>Invisible Elements and went in
and check marked them all to make sure. Nothing changes. Still getting the
error message.
ANy help would be so greatly appreciated as I have class on Thur night and
need to get some design work done and can't because I can't insert my images on
my site.
