Default interactive web site - support site - 08-12-2004 , 02:57 PM

I wish to create a simple support site for work, so that people I work with can
go to my web site, log a support call on the site (i.e. enter the problem with
their pc etc) and then I can post a reply on the site for them to tell them the
solution. Can this be done without having to connect to a database, i.e. MS
Access? if so how can this easily be done?

Thanks in advance

Ste

I suppose it could be, but I can't come up with any logical reason for not
using a database to do this.

Why wouldn't you want to use a database, pretty tricky otherwise. You could
have a hunt on google, there may be some pre-built apps.

Hi Darrel,

thanks for the quick reply. The only reason I didn't want to use a database,
is because I am not sure how to connect my web site to a database. I could
easily create the appropriate access database, but not sure where I have to
store the database and how to connect my website to it.

Ah...well, I guess that's just something you'll have to learn! ;o)

Really, a database is the way to go for this, so you might want to take that
route. As Alan suggested, there are also plenty of 'help desk'
scripts/systems out there thay might help you get a head-start with things.

As a first step you could imstall a message board - PHPBB or Yabbse.
