Default inserting objects over a jpeg image - 04-02-2009 , 11:42 PM

alright so this is the deal..i have designed the whole website in photoshop
even the text.so I sliced,saved for web,and opened it in dreamweaver.so what i
want to know how to do is how do i enter a text box over the jpeg image because
i add text box and it either goes below ,above,or to the side of the whole page
and not where i want to insert it at.heres the site to show you what i mean.

What you have created is a fine mockup as a draft to show a client.

But it's not a website. It's just an image.

- it's invisible to search engines
- the body text should not be part of the image
- it's too heavy in file size at 290KB+. As a guide, web pages are usually
around max 100KB in total (less for home pages).

You need to slice up this image into header and BG image, build a site in DW,
put the graphics onto the page and add your body text as plain HTML text. Then
style the page with CSS.

Then you've got a website and you can start adding other stuff to it.

ah ok i see...i thank you for pointing those things out! i wouldnt have known
or understood that if you wouldnt have metioned it..so i could do a plain black
background in dw,slice all the images in photoshop, then insert each
individually sliced image into dw in their apppropriate places is what you are
suggesting? ive read around on the net about people using tables and inserting
there pictures and text in the cells but im not sure if i understand too much
about how to go about doing that..this is my first time creating a website and
using html etc..so what would you suggest the easiest way would be to go about
this? i really appreaciate the feedback

First of all, since this is your first website, its good to get off on
the right foot. So, put down Photoshop and Dreamweaver for a couple of
days, and learn some basic HTML and CSS. It will help you more than
learning Dreamweaver. There are lots of places to start learning, here
is just one: http://www.w3schools.com/

Good luck!

It maybe none of my business, but get a friend to proof read that for you. You are missing some basic punctuation that makes your verbage a little awkward to read.

That will pay off big time.

When you do get ready to go back to your file, give this article a good
read:

Taking a Fireworks (or PhotoShop) comp to a CSS based layout in DW
