How do I stop Dreamweaver from uploading independent files even though I have not made changes to the files. I just want dreamweaver to upload the independant files that has been changed.

You mean "Dependent" files.

A dependent file is one that is necessary for the page you are uploading to
be displayed properly, like links CSS, js, Flash, and all embedded images.
It is not a hyperlinked page or document. It's no big deal, really.

But if you want to change the way it's happening, go to PREFERENCES | Site >
Prompt before PUT/GET, and enable that. Then when asked, click the don't
ask again, and click on NO.

Sorry I meant Dependent files, I don;t want to change the way the process
works, it's just that I want dreamweaver to figure out what to put up not just
put them up everytime unless there is a change, it a waste of time when you
make a change to the CSS on a page then dreamweaver uploads the 50 or so
graphics again everytime you make a change to the css. There has to be a way.
That's what I mean

From the Files panel left-click on the menu icon in the upper right corner.
Click on Edit > Select Recently Modified. Go to town...

i use voyager ftp. i think the dw is too slow and prone to error (i may be
wrong). with voyager i can sort directories by modified date/time and the
ones i changed are at the top. plus you can do multiple dirs at the same
time, unlike waiting for dw which is only capable of one at a time. --g

If you have 50 graphics on a page then you have too many graphics! But I
usually just use EDIT | Select Recently Modified, and put them.
