Default Importing HTML into template - 07-12-2004 , 06:52 PM

I have a pre-formatted table I'd like to import into new documents. On each
page I'll have two news article teasers in the left-hand column, so I need to
import it twice. I haven't had any luck so far. Is there a trick to doing this?

Not sure exactly what you are trying to do and what this pre-formatted table
comes from, but could you not try copy and paste?

You want to be able to quickly place this pre-made table?
Make it a Snippet. Then you can insert it with a click, and plop the content
into it. See the help files for snippet

Or- similar process, make it a library item. But- once you insert it, you'll
Have to detach it so you can insert unique content into each instance of it.

snippet is the way i'd go.

the stone-age way- save it as a document. when you want to use it- open it,
copy and paste where wanted.

What I have is a template that will be modified from section to section, but on
many of the pages I'll place press release "teasers" in the left hand margin.
Every page will have the same two teasers, so I would like the table containing
them to exist in one place.

When I try serving the table from an include file, the support graphics I use
in the table are broken.

Seems like there ought to be a way to plunk the table into the designated area
with the graphical links intact, but I can't figure it out. Anybody have a
suggestion?

that's simple to take care of.

ANY graphics or links that are IN an include file should have site root
relative paths. Then they will work no matter where the they are included
INTO is in the site's structure.

canned post about changing linking methods is below-
You'll want to use Site Root relative in this case of an SSI.

******To change this********
select an existing image or link on the page.
in the Property inspector, click the folder icon, to open the "Browse to
File" dialog box. On the lower part of that dialog box is pulldown, to
choose "Site Root Relative" or "Relative to Document"
Put it on "Relative to Document"
Finish picking the correct file, and click okay.

That setting will now stay that way until it's changed.
When you use the point to file tool, it will use that method of linking.

If you want to quickly change links to a different linking method- install
the Relativity Extension.
