Default iFrame z-index - 11-02-2005 , 10:59 AM

Hi -- Help please!

I'm having trouble with a layer that is stacked higher than an iframe.

The layer (with black background and some type) is meant to hide the iframe.
when a link is clicked, iframe is revealed using show-hide layers to "hide" the
covering layer. I'm using iframe because it is a scrolling text window
(FourLevel iFrame Scroller)

The z-index of covering layer is 8. Z-index of iframe is 1.

The problem: in IE6 (Mac) the iframe content is visible through the covering
layer. In Safari & Netscape its fine. Haven't checked other browsers yet.

Any ideas?

I can send link to protected site if that will help you help me!

Thanks!!!

Don't know why your are doing this, it doesn't sound like a good thing
to do. However you should drop the iframe and use a scrolling div
instead. Then swap the divs out using the show-hide layers.

Here is a tutorial on creating a scrolling div.

Thanks for replying to my q.

The scroller I designed is what the client wants in terms of scroll function
and elegance (artist site). There are image rollovers above and below the
iframe that control the up and down scrolling actions. It works great, I'm
just having this one problem (of course there had to be a catch!)
