Default html emails - 11-02-2005 , 07:57 AM

I want to send out HTML emails in-house. We have dreamweaver in house which I
know can create HTMl pages.

We want to build a HTML page in DW and then paste it somehow in Outlook. Is
this possible?

If I have images in the DW page surely they won't show up on the email?

Can anyone explain to me how to creat e HTML emails please?

Many thanks

:confused;

Yes.

The images must be located on some webspace and then you can make an
absolute link to them. But they will only appear in the email if the reader
is currently connected to the internet when they read the message.

Also beware of using BACKGROUND images.
May look fine in a browser, but I have found email client rendering of such
images to be erratic with both CSS and HTML tags.

I have not. As long as the image is linked with an absolute link, it should
work fine as a background image....

That's why it's always a good idea to send both text and HTML versions when
you do....

I know many people - myself included - don't want to receive html
emails, and their mail client is set up not to display the html.

maybe worth considering.

OK, This raises a question for me since I too am sending HTML e-mails to
members of our association. Can you tell me how to send both versions in one
e-mail? Is that a multi-part MIME format, and if so, how do you structure the
e-mail so that the HTML shows up for those whose mail client supports it and
plain text version shows up for those who don't? Probably a dumb question with
a simple answer, but I've never run across an explanation before.

Keep in mind that some people may have an assignment like I recently had, to
create a formatted email (for a specific reason) which is only received by
one person, who I knew to be able to receive HTML emails - and so this
warning may be unnecessary for people who just want to know *how* to send
HTML emails.
