Default How To "Use" a Form Created in DWMX2004 - 07-18-2004 , 05:37 PM

And it's true. All the best books do tell you how to create forms, validate
forms, and generally produce good looking forms. And then they say something
like: "But you will require some other scripting code, such as CGI, to be able
to use the forms in a website."

So, my question is: "Having been able to produce all kinds of forms in
DWMX2004 what do I do with them now? How do I 'use' with within a website? What
additional code do I need? How do I use this code in respect of the forms I 've
created? In what folders do I place the code so that I can FTP it all up when I
FTP the site from withinn DWMX2004?"

Actually, that was more than one question I know - but all the info is better
than part of it., I suppose

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you.

Paul,
Yes, you do need some sort of server side scripting to process the form.
The most used method I guess would be the standard FormMail.cgi.
Most hosts provide this for you. Check your hosts' faq page to see if this
is available to you.
It is then a matter of adding a bit of code to your already designed forms.

Thanks for that Nadia, I shall enquire with whichever host I use about Form.CGI
coding. I shall also go ahead and read the link you've gave me as well, but I
just want to ask the quick questions here....

Does anyone know what I do with the Form.CGI code once I've got it? Do I
insert it into the HTML file with the form? Is it an "attachment", like a CSS
style sheet? Which folder does it go into, (if it is a separate file), with
respect to the DWMX2004 root folders, for FTPing up to the host server?

Thanks again Nadia for your help - and anybody else's who may reply to this.
