How to Safely UnInstall MX 2004 Components (Mac) -

After installing Studio 8, I would like to fully remove the MX 2004 Apps and
Components, without damaging the Studio 8 install.
If I simply drag the MX 2004 -related app folders from the "Application"
folder, that will no doubt leave a lot of stuff elsewhere (like in "Macintosh
HD/Application Support/Macromedia/") ..
However if I run the un-installer (or follow the procedures) like the one
referred to here ...
http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?loc=en_us&term=uninstall+mx+2
004&x=0&y=0
(that's for fireworks, but it's easy to do analogous steps for DW)
... I am afraid that I might trash some type of supporting resource, or
worse yet some type of preferences or settings which Studio 8 may need.
I do see a trend in certain components and prefs being identified as "2004" vs
"8". However my concern is that there may be some type of "shared" items, which
both versions use, and that I might screw up my Studio 8 settings somehow (like
site definitions panel settings, etc) by mistakenly trashing something that v8
uses or that both versions share.
Can anyone provide some guidance here that may help?
Thanks.
