How to implement a mailing list?

I'd like to add a box to my site that's the typical "Join our mailing list"
where people can enter their email address for future notification mailings.
Here's my question though, is there a simple way to do this? I don't know php
or databasing at all, would there be an option that maybe a hosting company
would offer where they would supply the code for the form and I could download
a spreadsheet from them? I've heard about this kind of thing before, but I'm
not sure, I figure'd I'd ask here. PS: I'm poor so I don't want to use a pay
service, any suggestions?

Just add a form to your page. Go to www.mindpallette.com they have a couple
of free form processing scripts. Once you get the info from the form you can
easily plug it into an Excel spreadsheet.
