Viewing index.html.en index.html.de in Dreamweaver inlayout mode

I activated Multiviews in the .htaccess-File so a german speaking User gets
redirected to index.htm.de and the rest to index.htm.en

If I want to look at the Files in layout mode, I have to rename it to .htm
first. If I don't change the suffix to .htm, I'm not able to get in the layout
mode and only the source code mode works.

Is it possible to open xy.html.de-Files in layout mode without renaming it?

I'm not sure if that is possible and I only have a little experience with multiviews. Is it too late to suggest changing the scheme from index.htm.en to index.en.htm
