Default How do I make a link target a specific table cell? - 08-03-2004 , 10:45 AM

I have made my webpage in a table. When I make a link, the link works, but it
covers the whole page or create a new window. I want to have the page ope in a
specific cell. How do I do that?
Thanks.

With difficulty.

The only way to reliably achieve such is to use an IFrame. IFrames have the
same collection of problems that frames do, except with the added bonus of
browser support.

Why do you want to do this?

That's how the web works.

You don't. A page is a page. It opens inside a web browser. If you want
multiple pages to show in one browser, then you need to divide it up into
frames or iFrames.

I have made the web page in a table in stead of a frameset because frames take
so long to load. The table alows me to create grapics in photoshop and just
slice the up and insert them into the table. The load-time for a table is
much faster. Basically the links are in one cell.....(off to the left side and
I have a cell in the middle that I want the actual content to appear in.
There has to be a way to specify which cell is the taget for the link so that
the linked page, opens in that cell.

Heavy pages take long to load, whether in a frame or not.

No, it's not.

Why? There isn't other than the frame/iframe method already described.

No, there doesn't have to be. ;o)

Sorry, but that's just how it works.
