Images don't stretch well in browsers. Could you achieve your goal with a single instance of the image against a colored background that fills the space? |

Different monitor sizes won't change that. Anyhow, it looks fine to me as a centered image. |

Of course images *can* stretch, but it is a bad technique, e.g., img width="100%".... because it is not fully compatible and it produces nasty results with anything other than line art or solid color GIFs. |

An image 800 px wiode can never be more than 800px wide. You can re-size it to 900px wide but you will lose a considerable amount of quality. |
