Hover

I have a line of 5 links with a bullet point between and spaces between the bullet points. The odd thing is that when the finger/pointer just before about to go over a linked text its highlighted the linked text next to it then disappears. Any situation to this? I only selected the .hover and applied a colour. I am using Dreamweaver MX on a Mac, test with Explorer 5.1
