Default Highlighting page names in the menu - 09-13-2005 , 05:21 AM

Hi all,

I was wondering how people create their menu's in dreamweaver, so that when
you are on a certain page the page name in the menu highlights.For example, on
a simple site with HOME, PRODUCTS and CONTACT, when you are on HOME, HOME
highlights, and when you are on CONTACT, CONTACT highlights.

Currently I use the following code within the template, which depending on
which page you are on selects between 2 different CSS syles (menu, or
menuHighlight)

<!-- TemplateBeginIf cond="mainnav!='introduction'" -->
<td class="menu"><a href="../default.htm">introduction</a></td>
<!-- TemplateEndIf --> <!-- TemplateBeginIf cond="mainnav=='introduction'" -->
<td class="menuHighlight"><a
href="../default.htm">introduction</a></td>
<!-- TemplateEndIf -->

So in each page i have a paramater at the top like this...

<!-- TemplateParam name="mainnav" type="text" value="introduction" -->

However this means I have to have the menu in the template for it to work,
i've tried putting it as a LIBRARY item but it doesnt like it.

Can anyone give me any tips on how to work around this for more complex sites
where I dont want the menu in the template page. Hope i'm making sense.

cheers

muddy
