Hidding sound controls

I have been trying to attach sound to my web pages and that is successful but a
new page with the sound controls always appears. This is true with both
quicktime and windows media player. I have tried setting the control box size
to zero, used controller="false", and a few other commands I have forgotten. I
cannot find what is playing the sound as no player information is given on the
page. I have tried embedding a player but it is ignored and the mystery player
rules. What is going on?
