You can do the following:
I saw your page in a 1024..... resolution and I saw the problem:
In the photo editing soft... make green area wider...actually try making a
new 1280 x 1024 document,
then paste background image, then center that in page, then make green areas
wider to cover the white areas.
After you set the wider monitor resolution in that document.... then try
using a body css style for loading that image as a background . When you set
the properties at the editing style box...just select center in page...so
your background will be centered all the time even if sombody has the bigger
resolution in a monitor green color will cover that spece....thats all...!

My website still in early production, www.springcityauction.com, is going
to use a background that serves as the body background and the background
|
for the left nav bar, seen in many sites.

I have the background image sized at 800 pixels wide to fit on systems
with 800 x 600 resolutions. However, with any larger resolution, such as the
|
more popular 1024 x 768, the background image repeats itself, making it
really ugly.

I want to be able to size the page permanently at 800 x 600 and align it
to the left so the background color kicks in, or to simply turn off
|
background image wrapping and align the background to the left and do so.

If you don't understand and need to see what's up, set your resolution
higher than 800 x 600 and visit http://www.springcityauction.com.
Is there any way to do this or is there any other way around it? Please
help, I have deadlines. |
