Default help to make a simple scrolling window - 01-24-2004 , 04:02 PM

Hi guys,
What's the best way to make a small scrolling window (500x400 pts) centered on the page and import HTML into it (Text and graphics) in Dreamweaver? I would appreciate any advice or link to an useful tutorial on the subject.
Thank you-
Lee Bosh

Twenty dollars?
How about free: http://www.projectseven.com/extensions/index.htm
Scroll down to Floating Frame

Maybe get iFramer extenstion to make keep the pages intact.

Dan's iframe extension suite does much more than just creating an iframe -
I've used it and can recommend it w/o hesitation:
www.fourlevel.com

This would be the aforementioned $20 extension, yes?

Yeah, I've heard about iframe, didn't know it was safe to use it for most browsers. If you guys recomend it, I think it's worth to try.
Thank you-

Hi Lee,

To clarify, iframes are useful if you do not plan on supporting NN4 -
however, you can serve up alternate content to NN4, while all other v5+
browsers will see the content as you'd expect. Dan's iframe suite makes it
easy to serve up alternate content for NN4.

Your other options for what you're trying to acheive is a letterbox
frame-set which is compatible for nearly all browsers. Or you could use a
scrolling layer with DHTML to scroll the content - Dan's site also has an
extension to take care of that for you.
