Help with image positioning

I am new to DW and using CS4

I want to duplicate a page from an old GoLive site roberthobbs.net/essays
where there is a list of books on the right and as you scroll down along them
the images fade in on the left (and out) next to the item in the list

I have tried a gazillion ways, but always hit a stumbling block.

Does anyone have a simple way to make this happen? and work?

Well, ok. But.
I need to recreate it from scratch, so I can add new books and essays and tell
the next person how to. And then write down instructions so the next graduate
assistant can keep it up.
I've tried using show/hide, but can't seem to get the images to position
exactly where I want. It's been two weeks since I gave up, so let me go back
and see if I can make my question more specific. It has to do with positioning
the images so they come up next to the type that refers to them. I had a
terrible time trying to make that work.
What do I need to do there?

ok, I'm giving up.
I have tried over and over to get this to work.
I tried spry tool tips, and that almost works
I have tried show/hide every way til Sunday and I can get the first image to
work but as soon as I add more I can not get them to position correctly.
I've bought four books that have methods that almost work
I have spent about thirty or forty hours on this, and I just can't make it
work.
I just don't get it (obviously). I've always been pretty good at figuring
things out, but this is just beyond me.
I can't just use the old page, I, and the grad student who follows me next
year, have to be able to add new books/ essays in as they are written.
Should I just leave the images out?
This was so easy with GoLive.
