Help with dynamic pages

The time has come to update my site and make the pages dynamic. My host uses
MySQL and PHP for such sites. (MySQL is on their severs and the database is
created their, not on the local machine.) My current site can be seen at
www.strelitzia.co.uk. The type of site i want to create can be seen at
www.violetandblue.co.uk.
I have never touched dynamic pages before,and don't really have a clue where
to start. Can anyone give me some insite into how i set up a database in MySQL
and how it interfaces with the html on pages i create.
Does dreamweaver have any tutorials etc for setting these things up.
