Default getting .mdb database errors? read this .. - 07-17-2003 , 02:17 PM

I have had loads of problems trying to WRITE data to my DB, using iis 5.1 on
my local winxp machine, even though permissions were set correctly in iis,
and all the parent dirs.

If you are getting errors such as :

Microsoft JET Database Engine Error ' 80004005'
Unspecified error
&
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error ' 80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver] Operation must use an
updateable query.

then follow the steps at:
http://www.aspfaqs.com/aspfaqs/ShowFAQ.asp?FAQID=115
then
http://www.aspfaqs.com/aspfaqs/ShowFAQ.asp?FAQID=107

thats finally worked for me, and has solved 6 months of frustration and a
lot of hair pulling.

Hi Les,
No the DB had read/write permissions. I even added the IUSR_compname to the
administrator group , and it still didnt work.
It all works now thankfully, but i thought i'd pass on those URLs to anyone
who might be experiencing similar problems.

Is the database marked as "read only"? Does the IUSR... account have write
