Default ftp through dreamweaver - 07-08-2004 , 12:57 AM

I hope somebody can help me!

In the past, I have already used dreamweaver for uploading sites and files.
Unfortunately, I have problems connecting to my personal remote site via
dreamweaver. (I can easily access my site through other ftp programs)

I set up my "site" and click "testing connection" which is always successfully
(indicates dreamweaver)! But when actually clicking on the button in order to
connect to my remote site, I get following:
1. host found on PC (on Mac: server not responding)
2. waiting for server - retrieving remote folder
3. window disappears
4. then window comes back up: status - wating for server (runs for a minute or
so)
5. the connection to the remote host has been lost...
6. Dreamweaver cannot determine the remote server time. The select newer and
synchronize commands will not be available.

I cannot find the issue - tried it on Mac and PC.

Thanx for helping me out. a.

I had a problem similiar to that when I first started uploading. Come to find
out that I had put a firewall program on my comp and it prevented DW from
connecting. As soon a I disabled it, I was uploading again without a problem.
Im FAR from a guru and am trying to learn more myself, but it sounded similiar.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for your quick response!

Try setting passive FTP in your Remote site's definition.

Most of the FTP problems (all of them?) now are related to such....
