I'm glad I'm not alone in having this problem. I've been happily ftping my files to several websites for many months. After a few months off, I am suddenly unable to connect with the exact symptoms and settings shown above. No firewall, the usual settings, etc. I can connect with ftp software, just not through MX. Extremely frustrating! I've been looking at mustliple threads of people with the same problem and have tried every solution suggested, such as checking Passive FTP. No success. Any developments? |

This isn't working for me either, although it worked fine when I used a different host. Just spent a 1/2 hour on the phone with the new host and they haven't figured it out, but they're going to try. So it's sounding like a server issue, but as relates to DW. |

I like that "passive ftp" answer. It's suggested all the time and I've never seen it work! I'm beginning to think this is a bug in MX. The suggestion was made that I use one of my one-on-one support contacts. However, I'm well beyond my 90 grace period. What are my other options? |

Hello all, I, too, have suddenly had this problem, and have been pulling my hair out trying to determine a solution before using one of my "complementary" tech-service incident calls to get help over the telephone. I threw in the cards and made the call. Hopefully what you read next will save you from having to use yor "complementary" call. I just got off the phone with Macromedia tech support, and was able to come to a solution to this problem. My incident number was #7973223, if you should need to reference the call. The Fix: In the Remote Info area of my site definition, I had the following in the FTP host dialogue: ftp://ftp.mydomain.org/ The tech team member suggested removing the "ftp://" and the final "/" from the FTP host information: ftp.mydomain.org Testing the connection using the "test" button proved that his suggestion had worked. Evidently, Dreamweaver MX's FTP client does not process the "ftp://" and "/" very well. Other FTP clients are able to handle those parts of the FTP address, but not Dreamweaver MX. No explanation was offered as to the sudden occurrence of this issue with Dreamweaver MX. Good luck to you all, River |
