ftp difficulties

I am running xp pro trying to set up a site with dreamweaver mx 2004. when I
set the remote properties to FTP and test it tries to connect with my internal
modem that is disconnected as I use a satilite connection through a usb port.
Dreamweaver has no difficulty in general, connecting with macromedia sites
that are linked to the application. Only when I try to FTP does it show a
network conections window that only lists the dial up, back up connection, but
not my satilite connection.......Im stumped....
